I am a true “Moabite”. My family came to Moab from very different directions, both for similar reasons. My mother’s side came from Ohio. Her father was an engineer with the Atlas Corporation working in the uranium industry. My father’s side came from Corpus Christi, Texas. My grandfather was roommates in college with a gentleman by the name of Charlie Steen. Charlie Steen discovered a very large vein of uranium in the Moab area, then Moab became quite a booming little community. After my grandfather’s service in World War II, Charlie drove down to Texas to retrieve my grandpa and all five of his children. My grandfather worked with Charlie as his personal pilot. He also started the first airport here in Moab. He would land his planes out in the desert on little mining roads to pick up injured people and fly them to Grand Junction, Colorado to the hospital. So, here my family has built its nest and enjoyed doing so.

I LOVE Moab very much. I left once to attend college, but couldn’t stay away. I then attended school here, at the Utah State University extension. I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, biking, rafting, snowboarding, and camping. I also, on occasion, perform belly dancing and fire dancing. Moab is a great little community, not to mention the beautiful landscape that surrounds us. I would personally like to welcome anyone who chooses to move to this wonderful place.
